Policies and FAQs
BASK Infrared Therapy is dedicated to providing clients with the best infrared sauna experience in Knoxville, TN. Your sweat is a time to relax, release, and detoxify. Our policies aim to give you the optimal infrared sauna session.
Before your first visit
Please contact us with any questions.
Your First Sweat
• Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time to complete registration. We’ll need your signature before you can begin your sweat.
• You will be given an orientation the first time so you’ll know what to expect.
• If you aren’t used to sweating, you may not sweat very much during the first few sessions. After several sessions, you’ll begin
to sweat more efficiently.
Subsequent Sweats
• Always be sure you are well hydrated.
• Arrive 10 minutes before your appointment so you’ll be ready to enter the Infrared Sauna on time.
• Your sauna will end 30 minutes after your scheduled appointment time. Then you will have 5 minutes to dress and leave the
sauna room. That leaves us time to prepare the sauna for the next appointment.
Scheduling a Sweat
• You can call to schedule a sweat (865-384-8238). But our favorite way to book appointments is on line. On our website.
• We request 24 hours notice when cancelling a sweat.
• Please call if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. No shows will be charged full price.
During the Sweat
• Infrared therapy tends to move your nervous system from sympathetic (flight or fight) to parasympathetic (rest and digest). Allow the healing light work its magic: Leave your work behind and turn off your cell phone (or at least put it in airplane mode). You can enjoy the chromotherapy and listen to quiet music. Or you can meditate or doze. It’s all good.
• If you are new to infrared sauna, you may find that you need to limit your sweat to less than 30 minutes. Or you may need to leave the door to the sauna open for the first few sessions while you are getting used to it.
Is it safe?
• Infrared rays are perfectly safe. They do not damage or burn your skin.
• Infrared rays heat the body, not the air. Your core body temperature will rise slightly, and your heart rate will increase.
• Make sure you are well hydrated before the sweat begins. Water will be provided.
• If you begin to feel unwell at any point, you should exit the sauna for the day.
• Please check with your physician to see if sweating in an infrared sauna is appropriate for you in your current state of health.
Is it clean?
• Yes, of course. We provide fresh towels to sit on, to dry off with, and to put under your feet.
• There will be an additional comfortable and protective blanket between you and the sauna.
What do I wear?
• What you wear is up to you. Some choose to wear light gym wear or bathing suits, others simply use the towel provided.
• You will be in a private room with the door closed. No one will open the door unless it is past time for you to emerge or we
perceive an emergency.
What about food, drink and other indulgences?
• Refrain from eating for a couple of hours before your sauna session.
• DO bring water into the sauna, but no other food or beverages.
• Smoking is not allowed anywhere in AlmaDiem’s facility.
• Please do not wear strong perfumes or scents because they may linger and affect other clients
What happens afterward?
• Infrared saunas are incredibly detoxing! After your first sweats you may experience signs of detoxing such as unusual tiredness. If this happens, you’ll want to get some rest.
• Most people feel rejuvenated after a sweat. You just might get the best sleep ever!
• Make sure you continue to drink lots of pure water.
